With the wonderful team and staff of the Nepean Hospital, Illusionist Jack Daniels put together a talk and demonstartion on David Copperfield's Project Magic. There was around 50 people who attended from hospital patiantse who are undergoing therapy, to the medical staff. It was an amazing moment being able to use magic not for entertainment purposes but rather as a tool to be used for therapy. The day was even more magical when David Copperfield (who was enjoying his vacation at his island Musha Cay in the Bahamas) joined Jack Daniels through the magic of Skype and suprised the audience with Q&A's and a small performance by the audience members who showed off their skills of magic they had just learnt moments before. Here is the newspaper article from Penrith Press. www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/penrith-press/a-little-copperfield-magic-just-the-trick-for-patients/news-story/0ea2350c1b97a673f88434d98843bcce
On the 30th of August Jack Daniels was invited to attend a get together with some of the rehabilitation staff from the Nepean Hospital, Dr Adrian Sheen who is also a magic buff himself and Rod Junor who is the magician onboard the Sydney Showboat. The evening was spent over dinner and wonderful company at St Marys RSL Club with much talks, magic effects and discussions on the next stages for David Copperfield's Project Magic Australia within the Nepean hospital. The team and the Nepean Hospital have been doing an incredible job with Project Magic with great results and feedbacks coming from its patients. A very proud moment for all!
Last week Sydney Magician and Illusionist Jack Daniels was invited to attend the students showcase and hand out of awards at Springwood High School who have been running Project Magic with Fusion Australia.
The team at Fusion Australia have been doing an incredible things with Project Magic. They have been using the program in high schools to assist kids with social and self esteem issues with great success. To be invited to this event was a wonderful experience even for myself. I hadn't seen the student before so it was hard to believe what they were like before they started with the program. Some used to be shy, some used to have self esteem issues and some got in trouble a lot from what I heard. However after talking to the teachers who were present at the event, I found out that the students had improved dramitaicly. The teachers themselves where amazed by the power of this program. Each student did a very small performance for the audience and were given a award certificate on a job well done. The program has been running incredibly well with 2 other local magicians one of them being my mentor, Sydney Show Boat Magician Rod Junor and the other being one of our stage hands Kieran Taylor. An up and coming young magician with a bright future ahead of him. I was very proud of what they have done with Fusion Australia and Project Magic. A massive congratulations to them and the student who have taken part in the magic program. Jack Daniels It was a fun week when we received a phone call from one of the biggest names in magic wanting some assistance from us while he was overseas. Lots of early morning long phone calls dealing with Australian Customs, paperworks, and driving around in the crazy weather we recently had in Sydney. But non the less the mission was accomplished with great results from a great team! Thanks to all who helped us out this weekend.
For the past month we have been secretly working on a new stunt.
This would be by far the most dangerous thing we have ever done. Cant reveal much details at the moment but its going to be insane. We had our first test run only a few weeks ago to make sure how the stunt would take place, go through safety factors etc etc. Happy to report things went well other then obtaining a leg injury right after the stunt testing. We had to stop testing right away and look into ordering a special product from the states that would allow for a more comfortable and safe stunt. Lots of hrs are still needed before we can reveal what the stunt will be and at what location. For now its back to the gym and to condition our mind. |
